At Langham Oaks we are committed to providing learning opportunities for pupils in and out of school.
To achieve this we have created a comprehensive online learning package which supports with home learning, off-site learning or those unable to access onsite learning. We have used a combination of different products to achieve a truly bespoke experience for our learners.
We believe that all of our pupils should have equal opportunity to learn at home, therefore if you do not have the necessary equipment to access the online content, please call the school and we can arrange the loan of a laptop. We must give huge thanks to the Beckmead Trust for making this possible and helping us to provide opportunities to all pupils.
Mathletics is an online maths learning programme which is matched to the mathematics curriculum we offer in school (White Rose Maths). Pupils are able to complete maths challenges which range from primary all the way through to GCSE. The in-built lessons and support mean pupils do not require adult intervention to support their learning and can be truly independent. The programme is even clever enough to tell us the strengths and weaknesses of the pupils, helping the teachers to support the pupils with areas of development.
There are certificates and prizes available to those working hard and we offer extra school points for the completion of tasks. Each week we announce the top performers in our celebration assembly.
Evidence for learning is our chosen assessment system in school. It allows us to capture photographic and video evidence of pupils work and link it to our subject curriculum. We can share the evidence with parents and they can also share learning that has happened at home. Through the new INSIGHTS portal, we can now set bespoke and differentiated activities for pupils in each subject. We are able to send powerpoint presentations, Youtube links, worksheets, individualised tasks and even video messages from staff. This can be accessed through all of your mobile devices or laptops.
Each curriculum subject has its own page on our school website. If you go into curriculum and find subjects, you can choose a subject of your choice. You will notice that there is a section called resources which will provide you with links to websites and extra learning resources. Each resource has been carefully chosen to support the learning that is happening in school.
If technology is not your thing, we are more than happy to send work packs home. You can request this via your form tutor and we will endeavour to collect work from your subject teachers and send it home to you. We will either send it via Royal Mail or you may get a special delivery from one of our teaching team....service with a smile.
We are always looking at ways to improve our online offer. In particular we are trialling the use of Microsoft Classnote which will allow us to set differentiated work for pupils and have the ability to interact with the pupils in a safe online environment. This will improve the feedback and support we can provide to pupils.
We are also looking to develop the use of online lessons via Microsoft TEAMS (similar to Zoom, Chime and Face-time). All pupils have a Microsoft 365 account for their emails, therefore we could use TEAMS to provide lessons if they are unable to be in school. We are just working on the online learning policy now, so watch this space!
